In 2022 it was the platinum jubilee of the Queen, meaning that she had been reigning on the throne for 70 years.

Michelle Palmer and Jackie Bamber prepared a grant submission to enable the school to plant some trees in the queen’s honour. We received a grant from the Federal Government for $8000. With this money and some of the school’s money we were able to create and plant this avenue of trees which were planted in honour of the queen. The school also contributed $3000 towards the tree arbour so it could be irrigated and have the path that leads to the Fibonacci sculpture seating.

We chose Claret Ash trees which will grow to a large size and bring shade at the back of the oval.  They are deciduous trees which means they will lose their leaves in winter.

Mr Stevens said a few words and cut the ribbon with Michelle Palmer to officially open the tree arbour.
